Guy from the States here really wanting to come to New Zealand and Stag hunt. Anyone familiar with Alpine outfitters enough to recommend them?

What are you after in particular. NZ has it all from expensive free range GE freak stags to free public land bush scrubbers.

X2 what Gibo said. Only depends on how deep your pockets are.

Just a nice Red Stag (no fences) and a nice place to stay. Will be bringing the wife along. Found that Alpine hunting outfit on the net and it seemed nice.

Yup. Flick me a PM with some details and we could potentially accommodate you.

I like the "no fences" idea.

Go the kiwi way and get the real NZ thrill. Boardshorts, rugby t-shirt, gun, some food, knife and a sense of adventure.

High Peak station gets my reccomendation (from having taken the occasional meat animal there). The stags don't get their velvet harvested so get to live normal lives and go through the rutting process. They have also done a lot for the game and forest foundation. Check their web site.

Yeah Si Guild at High Peak is a good man and their accommodation options are great too
Also have a mate a bit further down the road at Peel Forest Estate who does private hunts on their hill block. Prices are high but the racks are as big as you can get anywhere in the country. If this is his sort of thing

Yeah mate it's a deer stud primarily as you can tell by those heads, the small amount of hunting they do caters to mainly US and Russian clients. Not really attractive to most of us kiwis who have been raised on a diet of wild hunting

Unfortunately the American hunters that purchase these "trophies" don't realize most kiwi hunters look at them with serious contempt... Or am I wrong? What do you think?

I am a hunter, I hunt without apology or guilt...
