I'm off to Alaska to chase Caribou this year then I'll probably try get a muzzleloade elkd tag in Colorado Next year as I think the muzzleloader hunt for early season alpine mule deers one of the best hunts I have done.

If any kiwis want to head over feel free to reach out. I'm an alpine hunter primarily so my focus goes towards the species that encompasses but a big public land bull Elks a goal.
Are you buying points in CO? the tags are getting harder to draw so accumulating a few points will help.

I’ve always wanted to hunt Alaska but the cost has always put me off. Which outfitter are you using?

I'm a citizen so no outfitter for Alaska just a bush flight and a general Tag.

And kind of i stack them in a few states but never had more than a point or 2 to spend as i spend them all everytime i head over. I just look at the draw odds and pick somewhere 100% with the country I like to hunt. I've hunted units with 5-10% success rate and could have killed in all of them. Not to be rude but most hunters aren't very good at it. All you have to do is know how to glass be able to get away from roads and anywhere people can get a 4x4 or atv. And if your not picky like I am you will have success. The amount of hunters I ran into coming back to the car that hadn't been more than a mile or so from it was astounding.
