Can anyone throw some light on which suppressor would be better on a 30-06 please? I have heard a lot of good stuff about ASE Utra but not sure about Hush power over barrel suppressors. Any information would be really helpful.

I would suggest paying $2 and buying this article:

Can't remember if it had hushpower in there specifically but it definitely had ASE and has info on weight, length and noise reduction of a bunch of suppressors.
have seen two hushpower suppresors with a hole where its not meant to be in them....... threads not straight
ASE are good - a scandi design - being euro made they have all the sound measurements done
Used one on a 243 for ages
Threads not straight on the suppressor or the rifle though?
Know of a couple issues with threads not being cut square causing issues with ase utra suppressor as they seem to have a tight tolerance.
Ase are quiet but heavy, not sure about the newer series though, meant to be lighter. No experience with hush power.
Is your plan for hunting or target shooting etc?
The ASE Utra is pretty much indestructible unless it's on a GPMG or similar.
I've got a .30cal one I could be willing to part with.
Have known of two hush powers that screwed accuracy. Ase any day.
Mostly hunting and sometimes targeting!
The smallest and lightest option from our models for .30-06 Win is the SL5i.
S Series SL5i sound suppressor | Ase Utra
To our knowledge it is the smallest suppressor on the market that brings the dB level below the EU threshold of 137 dB at the shooters ear.
Its size vs. performance ratio is one of the best on the market.
Basically at 340 grams, it is in the weight range of aluminium suppressors but with the long term durability of stainless steel.
If you would like more suppression, then either the SL7i or the jet-Z COMPACT are good options.

jet-Z COMPACT | Ase Utra
All of them are very robust with a fully welded design.

Ase Utra sound suppressors
Don't let the fact he's Mr ASE put you off that it might be all selling spiel, they're very robust and very quiet.
I've owned the sl5,sl7 and the rimfire versions and you will not kill one.
Yeah utra suppressors are awesome, just not for ultralight rifles but everything else they are great, very compact.

Guncity (who sold the suppressor) tried to blame it on the rifle thread also, that rifle had run another suppresor for years and is now running another one fine. Definately the suppresor thread...
This could be life threatening!
Was shown a hushpower last week which literally blew in half, went screaming down the range, manufacturer apparently now refusing to answer calls and e mails
I think Hushpower is a Gun City venture, or they perhaps have an exclusive agreement with the manufacturer in ChCh. I have the latest Hushpower suppressor for my Glock 17, and it's a piece of shit. Falls to bits and doesn't do a lot of suppressing, even with slow ammo.
My mate had Gun City in Wellington put a Hush Power suppressor on his Ruger .270. He asked me a help him because it wouldn’t shoot. When I took it too the range it could hit a target st 100 yards.
Turned out the project was clipping the end if the suppresso on the way out. The rear bush also didn’t touch the barrel at all.
Personally I wouldn’t go near a Gun City/Hush Power suppressor.
Yeah, stayed away from them due to the poor QC but when they worked, sound reduction was decent.
Interestingly, the design looks a lot like the Greystone can but certainly doesn't perform like one!
I've just picked up a Greystone K Baffle suppressor. They were not reviewed in the magazine test but my past experience with them for quality and noise suppression has me paying the extra $
Kinda like a slimline MAE nicely fluted, 38mm diameter, 25 cm long and weighing in at 420 gr.
Went .223 specific to get the best noise suppression. A little heavy compared to the DPT and Hardy but will be testing it on Anniversary weekend so will report back after that.

well ! have 2 Hardy Cans. A gen 5 short one on a 243 and just had a gen5 Stealth Fitted to a 223 and 243.
Would say I was a little ho hum about the short one but the front over hang is very short 75mm which is important on a bush rifle. I have noticed that the exit has a mark inside but it has been on 3 barrels so I cant comment any more just now and it has had the bore snake through as well.
to be fair its mostly been on short 18 & 20 in barrels where accuracy of 1.5-2 inch with low power scopes was acceptable.
The stealth is amazing really knocks the sound, blast and recoil right down. very impressed with it. If you can handle handle the extra length and dollars I would recommend it.
Currently getting 1/2 moa with basic home loads just shooting over my bag in the field, not on a bench.

Yeah, I have a Gen IV on my .223 that I bought from @Sasquatch and for me it's pretty poor at noise reduction. It's short and light so it will make a good .17 hmr can I guess... I always wanted to try a Hardy but now that I have had the Gen IV I'll stick with the ones that work well.
To be fair to Hardy I just want to point out that there is a difference between the Gen IV and Gen V short ones, Gen IV projects some gas/noise out sideways while the Gen V sends it all away from you.
I went the Gen 5 compact as I was wanting as short a front over hang as possible. My mates use DPT and a MAE I think on 223 and 7M08. They all sound similar without specialist meeting gear ( I had the shortest barrel by 4" and was the loudest without a silencer).
I was OK with the extra price of the Gen V for the shortness as I was getting it for a scrub and bush rifle.
and just to reiterate the Gen V Stealth I have just got is way ahead of the other 3 for noise reduction. (would recommend this one again)
I next rifle will be a shorty again and I may try a DPT so I can play with removing modules. More for open country and day walks. Less for bush and carrying.
