    Block groups FWF

Not that I've ever managed to actually snare one but I've always been confused at how the allocation of the numbers in each block go.

If my group has four hunters do we end up sharing the block. Can someone put this into simpletons English for me?

Doesn't matter in many of the blocks however there is the odd one that splitting becomes a pain.

If four hunters, it's likely that if a team of two is drawn, for the same block, you will have company for the period.

Pretty sure they aim for 5 or 6 per block to maximize the number of hunters during the ballot. Based on know this, you should work out how to maximize your changes for getting on a block too . I've entered 3 times and got blocks 3 times.

Each block is allocated 5-6 hunters. If two parties are sharing then it’s up to them to work out how it will be shared.

I thought each block is allocated 6 as you cannot apply as a group of 5 as they want full blocks. They try to fill every spot. I also know some blocks have had 3 groups of 2 drawn. So in the above example of a group of 2 being drawn I beleive the group of 3 would be rejected for that block allocation and moved to there next available presence and visa versa.

Yea i’m not 100 percent sure how that bit works. I know you can’t enter a party of five but always figured a party or two and three could end up together. Maybe they can’t, idk. I would be pretty bloody annoyed if my first choice block had a party of three allocated already and I was a party of two and they didn’t put me in there. I guess at the end of the day we never get to know anyway.

For your best changes of getting a block enter as a party of two... it can be tricky as a larger group as they do try to put 6 hunters into each block.

We've (mate and I... ie 2) entered four times and got four blocks and our blocks consisted of 4/2, 3/2, 4/2, 4/2

Good luck and hot barrels as Fiordland is a stunning place

Yeah mate. I was having over a look over one of your trips today. Looked pretty cool. I haven't put in for a few years after failing a few times in a row.

No different if a group of three get allocated then a group of 4 or 6. Is what it is plus they go down the ladder so might not get choise one but we don't all get to win it 100% hahah.

It’s a bit different because 3 and 4 don’t fit into 6 but 2 and 3 does haha. Seventenths has cleared it up that a 2 and 3 can go together anyway.

I'm pretty certain they wont put 3 groups of 2 in. Most blocks are well suited to split in half but having 3 individual parties would be a step to far. I've been in 5 times and had it was 6/0 2/3 2/4 2/2 2/4

As others have said, a group of 2 or 4 is probably your best chance and works well for a chopper flight too, 2 in a 500 or 4 in a Squirrel

Have done 6 in the squirrel twice with all our gear. Not that hard and makes it much more affordable. Once to a coastal block and once to the edith

Yes 6 is doable but depends on how much gear you want to take (Flash Basecamp)
