If you are climbing a hill stop before you go over the top and control your breathing. Hard to keep a deer in the scope when you have just blown your arse out
If I start to sweat, I slow down.
Dont stress about shooting animals, just cruise along and enjoy the hunt. I believe bush hunting is very tiresome in the fact you need to stay alert the whole time. Therefore take in the things you don't see everyday like fungi, and Kaka, this will slow down your hunting and give you a break from focusing.
I have found that with bush hunting you dont need to be the first one out the door of the hut to be the first one back with a deer. Sure early mornings and evenings can be more productive particularly in open country but in the bush not so much. I met and ex culler in the Kaimanawas when i began hunting, he was last to leave most days and first back, shooting 3 deer in 3 days.
I've learnt to never forget a knife.
im going ' clements ' in the morn. If i shoot a critter i will post a tip, if i dont i will hide in shame
@Toby!
Never fill your pack on a full stomach:D
To test the wind, I bought a little recharge bottle of builder's chalk line chalk, white if possible. Keep it in your pocket and when needed just squeeze a bit into the wind and you will know straight away the wind direction , and at what speed your sent is traveling in an area.
