Ok, so myself, craigc and flicka decided on a trip to the Ruahine tops, on the way up we got to talking and it made me wonder what others talk of while on hunting trips , anyway the word mirkin came up and Craig who shall remain nameless had a number of questions I just couldn't answer so we're hoping you could all help.

What is it
Why are they used
Etc

Not sure if I should answer this.....

A Mirkin is a pubic wig. In the previus couple centuries where medical issues were prominent (think 1700s through early 1900s) Prostitutes used them so they could clean themselves up ready for the next customer and not be all covered in "muck". It was in part a hygiene issue, and also gave a good impression for clients much like cleaning a car before selling it.....

Haha, I think that the saying "what goes on tour, stays on tour" should be applied to 95% of what is discussed around camp. Best one I heard, took two of our staff (chilean blokes) for an overnighter and after one or three too many whiskeys they told us about how they have a "communal fleshlignt" in the shower at their house (they were living with two other chilean blokes, four of them in the house) they reckoned it was ok though because the rule was that you had to "wear protection", but as the bottle got emptier one of these blokes got the courage to confess that since the other guys use protection he had been giving it a go bare-back, then the other bloke admitted he had been doing the same thing, I hadnt laughed that much for a good while!

Hence the term "Beaver" as such wigs were often made from Beaver fur.
