Had a great hunt . Seen 3 deer up very high late afternoon hind, yearling ,fawn . They gave me the slip unfortunately , but they did get my lazy arse up the steep ridge in a hurry if nothing else . Was a cold prick of a wind so I'd say they would have been somewhere cosy . Made camp quite a bit lower as was too steep even for bivy bag . Dawn was back up high again seen two spikers out feeding , but where very jumpy and f#%ken wind was arse . Got to within 600 yards , dog got the wind and locked up which I was real happy with . Was racing the sun as the only way closer was a shady gut . The spear grass was heathy (if you can belly crawl through that shit you a better man than me ) the sun beat me busted ! . They will live for another day . In in all was as good as it gets without a deer on the deck .

Yea the poor dog must get hammered , the hole hillside has got them but are thicker on the fringes . I honestly think me and my dog are the only silly pricks to hunt it , normally see Deer or deer sign at the least .Quote:
