    canterbury winter hunting?

i moved to canterbury a few weeks ago form the north and im champing at the bit to get into some mountain hunting for chamois etc.

first thing is how high should i be looking at hunting? do animals live in totally snow covered areas on the tops or do they tend to hang out in bushy gully heads with open tops above them?

second is should i be heading up into side creeks etc off the main rivers or heading up main ridges in the open stuff?

any advice is much appreciated, im keen as to get into it.

    thanks

I hunted around Otira, Sumner, Arthurs and saw animals right up in the snow, they were usually sitting on the rocky outcrops, or grass fringes with exposed ground or rock. Pigs are up in the snow, as high as you can climb pigs will be up there.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
