    click click boom

went for afternoon lurk with a mate. spent a heap of time glassing for a whole lot of nothing . i was very dusty from a mates birthday the night before and the mate wasn't super keen on thrashing himself so we took it easy and found a high point to sit on till dark . well i got bord so went for a poke round. dropped off the high point following my nose . didnt get to far and could hear something in the scrub below me . by this point the mate was watching me and waving his hands round like he was at the disco.

not a clue on what he was trying to tell me i carry on down the horrible little gutty bit well aware of the drop off to the creek not to far be low. a few more steps and theres a yearling thar unaware . too easy i think....

line up and squeeze the trigger click . eh ? cycle the bolt same thing happens .ffs the yearling is now looking at me next round in boomfa and i miss. much muttering about the dick who done the reloading(me) and remmington primers another thar pops up, up comes the rifle boom goes the rifle down goes the bull.

will post a video once i work out how

Hmmmm that's been hit pretty well. Hard onnrves but giving it second hit with pin sometimes sets it off. Gives me the shits taking out of gun...those stories of 303 hangfires in my mind.

It might be that you are bumping the shoulder a tad to far back. Easily fixed by adjusting your die in the press. You can get a clue on this by putting a layer of tape (masking tape is fine, alloy flue tape is the best) on the base of the cartidge that misfired and trying it in the rifle ( ideally with the firing pin assembly out, and in any case make sure it's always pointed in a safe direction). Keep adding layers until the bolt won't close. If you get past about 3 layers you definitely have to adjust your die.

That first picture the primer looks quite flat for one that hasn't gone off.
Any chance it missed the decap and prime process?

Easy to find out....wear glasses.pull projectiles, tip out powder into clean jar for re use..try firing primer in rifle....if don't go bang.squish in vice and wearing earmuffs give it a tap....farkin loud if goes pop...if not 7mmwsm might be onto it.

had a look at the other loaded rounds they all look like fresh primers. i did have a cock up with the loading n broke the decapping pin . may have missed one and not redone it.

    Hopefully problem solved.
If we were all honest, most of us have probably done something similar.
