Coming over to shoot around the Whakatane to Hamilton area

I'm visiting your great country again for a shot or 2. Im flying in Friday for 14 days. Staying in Whakatane but have transport. I shoot in Australia but have longed to tramp and shoot in NZ all my life.
I've lined up a 7mm08 and am bringing a Zeiss 3-9 x 40 to mount on it.
If anyone can spare the time to guide me I'd be grateful.

So, hunting? Want to go for a deer? Pig?

Pigs, deer yes. I only shoot ferals here in WA.
I need some tips and guidance.

Go to Whakatane Department of Conservation office and get all the info on the Ureweras park, great hunting on your door step.
Go online and get hunting permit from Tu Hoe, free and off you go.
In less than an hour you'll be in great Deer and Pig country!
