I don't think any one spot in the Kaweka's is any better or worse than another. I think it is more important as to what the calibre of the hunters previous to you were like, as to whether they were cowboys in for a bomb up around the hut or serious head hunters. The weather leading up to your hunt can keep some hunters cooped up for days...it is just the luck of the draw as to how the block has been leading up to your going in. A helicopter operator is going to tell you everything you want to hear...no exceptions. I don't say this in unkind way, just it is their livelihood and part of the job is to make you feel good.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

    Scouser,
Chris is a top fella and a bloody good sika hunter and it's worth calling him for info and top possies,
that being said I can show you exceptional sika stag areas 30 mins from the ute and you will encounter many stags in a day, most of them young but the oldies are there.

There are a lot of sika in the kaweka front country now and their population is not getting any smaller.

    A nice response 7mmsaum

The million dollar question is when does Scouser book time off work to maximise his chances of hearing a sika roar as a minimum?
