    Erua forest

Going down next weekend fishing and hunting. Looking to go for a wander in Erua forest. Thinking of walking along that southern pole access route off erua road and follow sign off there if the bush isn't too tight.
Alternatively I was thinking of going in off middle road and following my nose off the mtn bike track.
Do these options sound OK for a hunt to break up the fishing?

Had a wander a few years ago. Can't remember my route, sorry, but went in via the main(?) entry point. Spent a while walking on a gravel track thinking WTF, then got in to the bush. Heaps of deer sign. Heard a goat, but couldn't find it. Nice walk.

The track that heads to the pylon clearing off Erua road is well used but most go to the pylon clearings as it’s a big long grassy area which is about an hour or more of stalking walk pace. The gate is open last I was there so it gets hammered by those with quads/ SxS. However, 500m on the right side of the track is a track that leads to an old deer trap in the bush. Google will show you.
Numbers were ok and good if the wind is in your favour.
If you PM me I can be more specific.
