Well, I don't have to hand any hard evidence but I have a lot of anecdotal evidence of by-kill of deer as you mentioned. It's interesting that Graeme Elliot stated "1080 has traditionally been regarded as the best poison to use when you want a rapid knockdown, but don’t necessarily need to kill every last animal." so then 1080 is NOT being used to eradicate anything is it? Right alongside that when pushed on benefit/risk ratio for Rock Wren and Whio he responded with "we’re unsure whether birds are killed, but even if they are, the losses are more than outweighed by the gains."

Now my problem with that is this, he doesn't know......but the gains are worth it.....it's an oxy-moron plus one statement to make there is much around the use of 1080 in NZ that remains out of public scrutiny and when pushed, those involved roll out their best "political response" answers.......and that tells me we're not being given ALL of the facts and I have to wonder why that is, if there's nothing to hide, why isn't there complete transparency?

That’s the very reason the analogy does hold, imo. It’s a control tool, not eradication mechanism?

I just added up the cost of the latest wallabying trip last month Ferry tickets, fuel, food etc came out at $9.78 per animal. I must be doing it too cheap.

Now try it in the Dunstans or Oteake and see what your cost per animal is

The day the so called experts decided to shut down the South Canterbury Wallaby Board was the day things started to turn ti shite.
The only thing that has changed since those years gone is the increase in Wallaby numbers and where they have spread.. not to mention the amount of idiots aboard the gravy train. The amount of money that's wasted on the ol Wallaby is shocking.

A group of Mackenzie stations are talking about setting up a private board type structure for wallaby.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

Ha'ha the ol Wallaby can turn a nice lookin vehicle front into a bloody nightmare. I've had one through the windscreen of a series two landy.
To find one that's been turned into a pancake ..well it would have had to have been rather a large whatever or the poor sod has been run over multible times lol. Yeah XR500 they can really do some serious damage if hit at speed eh.

Good grief B.... that ti me does sound a tad scary. There's a hell of a lot of work involved to even start such a venture eh. finding some one capable
and with a fare amount of experience behind them well. looking at some of the control methods being suggested and those already in place etc
I most certainly wouldn't expect any miracles fi sure.
But hey I'm only dribbling on about what I know, what I've learnt and experienced over several years working on the old Wallaby Board.
At least in those days the roos were kept where they should've been..and I can say that with a smile.
