Thread: Fallow behaviour in wet/windy weather

Well. I got out there. Got absolutely bucketed on. Spied an animal on the bush edge of a clearing which wandered off before I could get close enough for a shot and then found this guy and his mate standing right in the middle of a clearing feeding away like grass is going out of fashion! At about 10am too, love that deer are often up and about most the day at this time of year.

Crawled in to about 50m from him and got a good rest and waited for the right shot and popped him with my trusty Creedmoor and just like that the rain stopped and the sun came out.

Dressed him up nicely and into the pack he went. Very blessed as a new hunter of only a year to have the opportunity to learn to shoot, dress and even just watch animals on private land and great to fill the freezer but looking forward to spending some more time on public land and ‘earning’ animals a little more.
