I was doing some trail maintenance on land where I knew there were a bunch of wild goats but I'm not allowed to shoot there so all I had was a knife and a dream. One popped out of the bushes and took off, I crept up on it, somehow managed to catch the thing. Bled it out, took the good bits. Didn't think that I'd be able to get it without a dog, but you never know till you try.

Yeah never really had much to do with goats so wasn't sure how it'd go. Better than expected! Wish it was a nice tasty nanny though.
Just go back again tomorrow then! [emoji5] I saw a cool old Country Calendar once about tagging Judas goats in the '80s. I'm not sure why but I think the scenes of the dudes in overalls jumping out of choppers and tackling goats was one of the funniest things I've seen in my life.Quote:

Good effort Jack, many years ago when culling up Coromandel I stabbed a goat that walked past the tree I was hiding beside. My dog had another bailed way below and this one was making it's escape. The knife went in up to the hilt behind the shoulder but old goaty took off taking my knife with him. Luck was on my side and the goat was pretty crook and sat down on a slip and died so my knife was not lost forever.... still got the old Kohnor I bought from Sportways in Auckland for $5 in the early 70's
