Game Animal Council survey of Battle for our Birds mitigation

The Game Animal Council and NZDA want to hear from you about which areas should get deer repellent or special timing for DOC's upcoming aerial 1080 operations.

Find out about Battle for our Birds plans, including a map of potential areas here

Hmm do I vote for my local fallow herd that has been decimated with the last few rounds of 1080 or do I vote for the Dart...

Voted for the Dart. Reds and japs are dime a dozen. Nice to actually see the GAC actually doing something. Maybe a release from NZDA with guidance on the form would be a good idea too as it was a bit too non specific. I don't hunt the Dart but I have an interest in it as a place of special importance to NZ hunting
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

    I voted for the dart.
While it is heartbreaking to see our fallow herd intentionally wiped out I believe this can be fixed as fallow are everywhere on farms.
I would like my son and daughter to have the opportunity to hunt whitetail on the mainland if they choose to .
If this herd is wiped out I can't see it ever being re established.
