There's only really one definite way for you to tell. Due to the diet being quite different between goats and deer, each of there scat contains different types of browsed organic matter.

Therefore it's possible to tell the difference between the two types of droppings from..... yep you guessed it ....taste.

No I'm not joking, if it's old and dry you'll need to leave each pellet in your mouth for a few minutes and roll it round to let the saliva rehydrate it to release the flavor properly.

Only two or three pellets should be enough to be able to tell.

Deer browse leafy trees and grass whereas goats like gorse thristles, blackberry and that harder kinda stuff. The flavour will be quite obvious and you will have your answer.
