    Ground laid 1080?

So I was planning a hunt tomorrow, decide to check the pesticide summaries, and sure enough, AHB is doing ground poisoning around (but not in) the area I'm planning on hunting. The summary states "Cholecalciferol, cyanide, 1080 in bait stations, bags and ground laid." I was planning on hunting for meat...

What I'm wondering is how they ground lay it. Is it the same pellets, just put in place by hand? Is it more deer proof?

I guess I should change plans?

Depends on the program, where I've seen ground layed 1080 has been in bait stations, but wouldn't want to gaurantee that

Yeah, will give it a miss. Looks like they're poisoning the whole bloody West Coast at the moment.

So in essence they are poisoning paradise. Someone should make a video about that. Oh I forgot they already have. It is criminal what they do with 1080 and it has screwed up your plans for a hunt to boot. I was just reading this morning that recommending that the increased use of 1080 is one of Jan Wright's (parliamentary commissioner for the environment) proudest moments. Silly twat actually believes that without the stuff our forests would be silent as the possums stoats and rats would have destroyed all of the bird life. What shits me is that I have heard the silence after 1080 has beaten the nasty critters to the job.

And most if not all Central north island.Had a DOC Field officer turn up at my camp couple weeks ago ,he suggested that they'd done a drop more towards Clements road.Poison notices up at end of the road where I was ,fire by permit only .I had a gas cooker,no worries. He did seem a little agitated with my questions & had to write me an infringement notice because I'd forgotten my permit.1st time in 40 odd years been asked for it & was at home. Little hitler ass hole ,right person in the right job (obviously).
Didn't ask him how he'd explain all the twisted ,contorted possum frames that where littering the place (dozens of them) .They did more over towards Clements road .I don't think so .
Got a wonder how much of it trans-locates into the Lake due to run off.I hear that that fishery is in decline ,is 1080 a contributing factor ?
I'll get off my soap box now OK.

No stay on it Chris it is the only way that common sense will ultimately prevail.

Wow... I have never heard of any one getting fined for no permit. How much was it ?????

Well some good news on the 1080 front in the Ureweras.. Doc is getting asholed out of there as soon as the "New owners/Carers" can get them out. No more 1080 or helli hunting.

That is excellent news if the Tuhoe follow through with that. It is certainly the case that the local Ngati Whare iwi at Minginui do not get on with DoC. I guess if they do stop the use it will ultimately show one way or the other whether the 1080 was needed.
