    Guns in Laos

Came across a hunting party this morning ...

The four guns are what are called bird guns and used for hunting birds and small game... all home made

One was a flintlock one appeared to be a 22 although I am unsure where the ammo comes from as it is illegal in non govt hands.

The LPDA guys tote SKS autos... a Chinese variant.

I have posted picures of the game in the food section.

I really wanted to handle them and could have asked or bought a shoot, however with the LPDA on hand it would have been a situation that could well have seen me in trouble.

This just shows the futility of firearms laws! It is interesting that the long one with the light coloured stock has an SKS trigger mechanism.

So I am working in Laos at the moment on a gold exploration gig. Where abouts are you based? Pm if you like.
I come across the homemade shotgun variant most days with the locals we work with. The LPDA based at the mine and at some of the villages near the Veitnam border are using chinese ak47s.
Black market price for an ak is about $50 usd.

Hungarian AMD-65 one of the local militia boys was carrying that I had with me one day. Apparently for my protection from "tigers". Reality was because we are close to the Vietnam Border and they are dodgy af.
