    Haast/Wanaka Blocks

How did everyone get on? Missed out on both this year but still managed a few days on coast chasing stags. Haven't heard much talk about them this year but would imagine there were a few nice stags taken with the lack of waro in recent years. Any good yarns?

Tried to upload own photos but seems to upload them on a huge scale instead of nice small images that actually fit into the thread. Does anyone know how to stop this?

Waro activities in Otago and South Westland have still been very actively shooting with numbers getting hammered in a lot of areas.
Would also like to hear how others have gotten on?
Save our Tahr. They belong in the southern alps.

I had same problem trying to upload photos from my canon SX70HS ,they either wouldn't upload at all or were on a huge scale as you put it.
Seem to have fixed that by getting into settings on my camera and resizing them to a much smaller size.
If photos are from your phone i presume you can resize them on that too. Hope that helps!!

I just download photos from my Google account to upload here, have never resized any and they seem to work. This is on Android, have no idea what the dreaded fruit ones do.

Well done boys! I actually had that block 20 March but handed it back as I was double booked. I should have gone by the look of it, probably would have been great with the bow.

Probably more deer in the roar blocks we hunted this year than previous ones (same blocks or general area). Would have averaged seeing 40+ deer per trip.

We shot a two decent stags on the coast this year, main divide blocks and a couple in open blocks. Saw and heard plenty.

The guys we spoke to who put in decent effort had similar results.

I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.

Our party of 4 had Falls Creek first period.
We asked the pilot who was contracting to the company we flew in with if any WARO had been taking place and was told it had been hammered in the weeks prior to us going in.
This was soon confirmed with only about 10 deer seen over the whole trip, including down on the river flats and almost no fresh sign out on the tops or clearings.
We found piles of gut bags with fawns still in them, so WARO had been taking place for months before we were in there.
One of our party had been able to glass the tops on our block from a block next door and had counted about 30 deer out through the day on a previous trip about 3 years earlier.
