    The tricky thing in the US is knowing where or when you tip and when you don’t.
    You don’t tip retail workers in clothes shops. At least not the ones I shopped in.
    You always tip restaurant staff. Where you are waited on.
    They are taxed on the assumption you’ve tipped them. So if you don’t tip them, it actually costs them money which is why they get so dirty on you.

    Number 1 thing to always remember if you choose not to tip. Tell them you’re Australian. They can’t tell our accents apart.


    Here I nearly always tip in restaurants if the service is good. They aren’t well paid, and if it’s someone with a good work ethic, made my meal a good experience because they looked after me, then $$
