Help Hunting NZ - Can trade Hawaii Axis Hunt

Hi guys! Long time archery hunter. I'm visiting Southland for the week from Hawaii with the gf and doing tourist stuff, but would love to meet up with local hunters, buy someone dinner or lunch and learn the inside scoop on hunting here. And if anyone wants to hunt axis deer in Hawaii on the island of Lanai, I go there about every other month and can help walk someone through the whole process of getting over there and can potentially take you out and put you on some of the beautiful animals we have over there. Mahalo!

I'm driving all over the island this week, so if anyone is interested in talking story let me know and we can see if our timelines match up.

That's an impressive set. Wide and long on a smaller bodied animal. Very different to our Reds or Fallow that are commonly hunted.
Nice looking Skin, do the come up well when and hold the hair when tanned. Some of our Red deer hides are known to slip the hair.
Sorry I'm up north but I'm sure someone will get in contact.

Welcome. Great way to come on board.

Hello Warfrog - I'm in Invercargill too, always happy to catch up with a visiting hunter, you can txt me on 021516342 when you are in NZ. I don't think you can PM anyone till you have 5 posts - thats a hint to tell us more about hunting in Hawaii (and no fibs cause I just hunted on the West Coast with a gentleman from Hawaii, David was easily the best overseas hunter I've struck and very young 64 years old to boot!!)

Hey Tentman! Thanks and there's some great hunters that come out of Hawaii for sure. Lots of opportunity to make mistakes and learn as you go when you have densities like we do. (The year-round seasons don't hurt either). I'll actually be in Invercargill the day after tomorrow. I'll shoot you and SiB a text and see if we can coordinate something! Looking forward to it!

The other nice thing about Lanai is that most of the time I can drag the deer to the car and take care of everything at the house haha

Hey Russian! I've found that it actually does..sometimes. If I'm in the shade, or have anything helping break up the outline, I can get away with getting a lot closer than I should. Im a big fan of that camo pattern (asat). I can post some example pics of why I like it
