High tail feathers
Hi guys, following on from the short vid Bergered, when I was cutting that stag up I noticed something I hadn't noticed before. The cream patch on its rump seemed to come a fair way up its back.
Any thoughts?? Maybe I just haven't taken much notice before. I have cut up one or two in the past. The knife is there as size reference. The cut down the back steak stops at the hip bone so there are your markers so to speak. Couple of diff angles for you

Bit of farmed wapiti blood in there

Yep looks like a wap type caudal disc for sure, but a bit higher up the back than usual.

I've seen a few reds like that before. I reckon it's just a coat variation.
In the vid of it being shot it didn't look to have any Wap blood in it.
I've seen a couple of black coloured reds in the past too.

Have a look at 50 secs (bottom of frame) which is a red, and then later after a lot of wobbly filming at 2.58 another similar one that I have titled. I've concluded that these are just colour variations.

I'm going with some wap blood even if it didnt look like one on the hoof.
What percentage wap is required to throw a trait out?
So many escapes of various red/wap blends there is not many places left in nz where you could say with certanty that the bloodlines have not been polluted by escape or release.
