How many guy hunting with subsonics? ( non varmint )

Seems like a lot of guys now days with the 300 blackout, 308win and 44mag shooting subsonic ammo on paper targets and steel etc, but don't see much about people hunting animals with them or are guys not happy using such a slow bullet on deer? Also interested in what subsonic calibre and ammo everyone is hunting with?

    I have hinted with subsonic .308, 300blk, 45acp, 44mag,9mm

300blk is awesome for the extra range but even with very expensive pills I find 44mag kills better.
I really regret selling my .45acp setup as while it was only good very close it killed goats well

I had a bit of a play with subsonic 308, not really done any hunting with it but have shot a couple of pigs and a couple of goats.
For me not having a dog to shoot over and valuing my licence to much to poach I dont really have a reason to use them hunting.

3030 cast bullet 10 gr trail boss good for goats at 100, 45/70 405 gr cast 60 gr 2f better bit smokie but great fun, the benefit of subsonic is somewhat lost without a supresser though

Use 44 mag with 225gr Remington for a sub load for bailed pigs and 200gr Barnes for full power load for deer. Both group at same point of impact under 30mm at 50 metres. Shot out of Ruger bolt action with lightweight suppressor. The sub load isn't completely quiet but does the job.

Start to have accumulated a little number of preys shot with 308 ,and 300 whisper/blackout.

150 grain lead cast hollow point give me best results. I have not tried the Leigh
I am still convinced that whenever possible we should be using supersonics. Subsonics don't kill reliably well and quick.having a dog to track wounded game would be a plus.
Past 100 yrds, rangefinder and some sort of trajectory compensation are a must have:
Turret Bdc or graduated reticle. If using a graduated reticle , try to go with a first focal plane scope and you will never look back.

You have to reload and you have to produce a high degree of consistency in your reloading if you want to accurately shoot past 120m.

Tried some 160gr hornady round nose projectiles in my 260Rem on the weekend 10.5gr of donuts gets about 1030fps, but my 1:9 twist couldn't stabilize them.

Mainly shoot with Supers in the 300 with the MAE and pretty good. Nosler 125 and 168's both work well hunting

But also have the Le High's ME's for sub's with 10 grains of ADI and they work really well at close quarters with Goats under 20-30m in the close bush with the supressor sounds like a cough so they don't run far and you can pick 'em up again.. Over farmland I'd just stick with the supers as I have no problem with accuracy or expansion at 100 as they drill a 3 inch exit hole through the chest cavity and the drop pretty quick, staggger, stagger drop.

I cant see the point in using subs unless your poaching. Just using a suppressor on my rifle muffles the shot enough that animals look around wondering where the noise came from without spooking.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Because I have suppressed subsonic rifles I have been asked to take care of a good number of goats and pigs close to housing and land users. Also all ways have a couple of sup loads with me out hunting for that goat or possum that I would let go if I only had supers-they are a valid tool but if practical I personally would take the extra energy of supersonic if practical.

And let's not forget that working up loads is fun

I can't see the point why people are buying expensive fast sports cars when you are limited to 100km/h on the road and it is illegal to go beyond that speed.

It is by thinking like that, that we feed the greenies and that we might one day have no more hunting and be forced to eat veggies only and drive small boring and ugly electric cars .
See what UK and Australia are slowly becoming as an exemple.

Ban scary assault v8's. No one needs 8 cylinders.

blah blah blah. Nothing wrong with owning or being interested in subsonic hunting rifles.
