How many rounds do you generally take when you go hunting?

When talking to some hunters, they might only take 5 rounds and say, "If I need more, I'm doing something wrong", while others I know would take 50 or so rounds and say, "I'm doing weight training" Just wondering what everyone here takes with them for their respective rifle.

It's easy to have a big stuff up and suddenly be out of ammo. I've been on hunts where 5 wasn't enough for the day after a big stuff up and it was on to the knife. Day hunt for me is now generally about 10.

I've had similar on multi day hunts where one good stuff up led to me wishing I brought more ammo. Depends on the trips purpose but maybe 15 - 20 for multi day.

It really depends on what your plans are.

Modern tech is pretty good for emergencies these days but it's always handy to have enough ammo on hand to fire the distress signal of three evenly spaced shots.. plus a repeat or two. Although I wonder how many people would register what that means these days.

I took 75rds of 308 up the hill the other day to blast some roos.

Unfortunately came back with most of it this time around, because there were bugger all about.

Between 6 and 10 depending if 3 or 5 shot mags. For day hunt, overnighter etc.

For private land trips on farms, or blocks with driving access anything from 20 to 200 depending on the plan and if it's goat of deer.
If you can't kill it with bullets, dont f*ck with it.

308 holds 5 in the mag so usually fill that and a couple extra in the pocket.

22-250 I only take if expecting to see goats so usually 20

If goat hunting (note hunting, not culling), 6 rounds plus 2 subsonic. If deer hunting, 3 in the magazine plus another 5 rounds. As per blip's protocol, I generally bring 8 rounds home.
