I don't think so - I certainly don't have trouble picking up on deer etc. Best way to describe it is that red is a lot duller and on top of green just looks the same. Once you get close enough that you can a see an object, like red flowers on a bush, your brain kind of kicks in and then its ah I can see it. I can see red just fine just not when its overlaid on other things. You can look at some interesting computer simulations on the web that show whats its like to be colorblind and also what it's like for a colorblind person to see normally and I get the feeling that I just live in world that's a bit more dull overall as well but as the say what you don't know you don't miss. Big question you get is someone holds something blue up 'what color is this' expecting you to say yellow - its blue because even if it is different from what they see its blue to me because that's what that color is called.

I took my two boys into the Boyd via Poronui/Oamaru last Christmas.
We had an awesome time, for a well walked route we saw 4 people in total, 2 trampers 2 hunters.
My hunch is most are with family and more lake/sea oriented rather than mountains or the bush.

We’ll go somewhere next week for a few days. Undecided at this stage, depends how many are coming…

I'm going to break my rule tomorrow. We've had some wild weather and there is a break tomorrow plus I'm guessing that most will be too hungover to get out.

One of my hunter-avoidance tactics is going in off the back of some rough weather - seems to keep a few at home. Only pitfall is when the bad weather also blocks the access, as I encountered yesterday. After half an hour of one-rep max deadlifts, and a bit of creative thinking, I was able to make enough room for the trusty Corolla sneak past.

I will partly answer my question, I went out, seen a lot of people having fun camping, riding motorbikes etc but zero hunters. I know there were none because I stumbled on a fair few deer including a stag with direct sunlight on him, all the animals very undisturbed.

I think perhaps normal people are actually having fun and being social at these times so from my 2 trips I'm feeling safer than I thought out there.

    Thanks that's a great explanation

I always find it interesting to get a chance to look through someone else's eyes

The blue thing I find that people treat you like you're retarded if they find out that you see the world differently - I'll never forget one time I was on crutches from a broken ankle and I found people started yelling at me like I was deaf

I met a bloke last month who has no "mind's eye" like he can't imagine things in the abstract - it's really cool talking to a bloke like that about how he sees the world
