I'm wondering if anyone would like to share their experiences of hunter numbers during this period regarding hunter density. Carparks are more full but a lot of that is young families out camping etc.
The thought of me or my dog getting in someone's sights gives me the creeps.
yea i get a bit twitchy when i see more than one vehicle in my go to spot...its not a particularly big block...
we all think of what if -- cars parked who is where -- I got over it and just got out there
No idea, but I don't hunt on public holidays or weekends.
Years ago i was in Te Anau over a public holiday.
An ex cop I knew there who realised I'd probably be looking for deer asked me a question that has stayed with me ever since:
" Are ya going hunting, or are ya gonna stay safe?"
comes down to an age old question real risk or perceived risk I will just go hunting
Still believe you have more chance of dying driving to your hunting spot than after arrival. If you've come up thru the "meat hunting" era bush hunting today's conditions are a breeze, can't do anything about those who choose not to positively identify their chosen target.

Wearing a bright lime coloured top really helps to make you visible, especially when bush hunting.
Good answers thanks guys, I might at least wait until some bad weather rolls in to keep some others at home.
There is always the option of going somewhere extremely isolated but with a lot of the accidents I've read about lately e.g. Stewart Is, it's often the case of a hunter thinking the bushes moving must be a deer "because no one should be there"
except there is something like 8% of the population who are red/green colour blind and will not see you as flouro at all.Quote:

I seen a documentary once where they used a colorblind guy to spot certain illegal crops in the bush because they can acutely tell the difference between different types of green. So they can be good hunting buddies to have, just don't let them carry the rifle I guessQuote:
