Hunting in awhitu
Hey guys I know there are a crap tonne of deer out around Awhitu. Just wondering what the farmers are like out there. What are the chances of them saying yes if I ask to go out and get a deer. After one for my cousins weeding you see. I know alot of people poach out there and i have been told by a few people to do the same and save your self the time of asking the farmer but im not into that. Im thinking that my chances are slim because of the amount of poaching that goes on out there. Anyone on here been around that way and asked?
cheers yeti

Yeti, there's only one way to find out, go and ask. Present yourself well, be polite.

I have a friend that has permission to hunt pigs and goats on a farm there but no deer the owner wants them, He has tried other farmers

Have the decency to call in and ask, probably be told no, but at least they can put a name to a face and you never know, you may be lucky. Definitely worth a try. And when I make a cold call, I try to leave a card of some sort, you can make up a few on the 'puter, cos you know what its like after some stranger says hi, talks about the weather, the price of wool, the price of milk etc - after he's gone you have no bloody idea what his name was. A card means they at least they get to remember your name before they put it in the rubbish tin.
