Hunting Ohakune/ Ruapehu area

Hi there, Im planning to head up to Ohakune for a few days hunting on way up to northland sometime next week and just wondering if anyone in the know could give me a few pointers on areas to try. I have hunted around there a bit in the past but in winter time ( mainly around Rangataua forest) always see lots of fresh sign but never any deer. Just wondering if anyone has info on summer time hunting around there.

Would love to hear from anyone willing to give me some hints on other places to try around ohakune, or even better if you have had success in Rangataua forest love to hear the secret. Feel free to PM me, Cheers Josh & hot barrels
