hunting for pig and goat
Hi All, I am a new and would like some advice on hunting goat and pig in NZ.Iam from the uk planning to come over in FEB-MARCH, 14 for 5 weeks or so.I am keen shot and have been shooting most of my life.Having worked for NZ shipping co in the 60,s as a marine enginner I have always wanted to see NZ from the inside.

hey wile, I think you best bet is to have a look at a few nz hunting guides if you are able to afford it. they will get you in there doing it since you don't have to much time here. yes you pay for it but, you will get results.

It doesnt have to cost you much to hunt here Wile. Plenty of DOC ( public) land avavilable on both islands. It would pay to look at where to go before you get here though. I will pm you some links to have a look at.

Hi mate if you are anywhere near Hawkes Bay when you are here i would be happy to take you into some forestry to shoot some goats. Sorry can't help with the pigs. Let me know.

Hi, Pome, Thank,s for the offer.I should be in NZ from about 14th feb,planned to around Queenstown area with an outfit who normally take bow hunters.From aprox 21st plan to see the south island before going north.In the 60,s I worked for the NZ shipping co as a marine engineer,so I always wanted to come back and see the true NZ and combine it with some hunting.
I little bit about me will be 69 next week, married,with son&dughter 3 grandsons, being shooting for over 50 years have various calibers into home-loading although line in the north east of England and being a member of 2 rifle clubs I get down to Bisley a number of times a year.
If you wan,t any more info just ask, by the way bear with me not use to being on these forums.

I have rung the Rangitoto ship bell, what a small world it is, grandad passed away around 10yrs ago that dam asbestos got him
I will ask my Nan this weekend for some of his cobbers names, he liked a good party with plenty of booze and lots of old music tunes, i beleve he was quite a character
He had and Nan still has some very special friends in England, he spent a year there with a family helping him adjust and recuperate after the war and 4yrs holiday with the Germans
