Hi there i have a hush power suppressor on a savage 223 I've noticed build up on the internal narrow end where the projectile pass thru, could the projectile be hitting this an be the cause of the rifle not grouping? and is any one able to point me in the right direction on which end has the thread to open it up to clean out?? any advise is greatly appreciated.
If you go to the dpt website I think they have informal available for cleaning their suppressors. Wash it out in the sink with detergent and hot water, find a pipe cleaner to get down inside it. Stick it beside the fire / hot water cupboard for a week or so to dry out well
Have you tried to see how it groups without the suppressor on?
By build up are you talking carbon or something else?
Make sure you take it off the rifle when in storage as well, corrodes the inside of your barrel and if over barrel the carbon builds up to horrible levels!
If it's just carbon clean it as above. If you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner it makes it very easy.
I'd be interested to know if a small amount of carbon fouling at "muzzle" of suppressor would cause any noticeable accuracy issues as surely the projectile moving at x'000fps would knock that out first shot.
I would be seeing a gunsmith to make sure suppressor is actually aligned and that is not in fact lead smudges.
Also "simple green" seems to be a goer for me and the DPT.
Bullets contacting the supressors baffles usually leave a pretty distinctive "mark" carbon build up or corrosion products would be more likely.
I was given a rifle to sight in that had a Hush Power suppressor on it, it looked a bit like yours.
Eventually I worked out that the projectile was clipping the suppressor on the way out. It had been installed very poorly and the rear bush did not contact the barrel anywhere. I suggested my mate take the rifle back to gun city and insist they get a proper gunsmith to install a decent brand of suppressor. That turned out to be the second mate that I had given that advice too.
In your case why would the carbon build up only at one point?
Hey Guys thank you for all your input, i have opened the end of the suppressor up see photo there is a lot of crap in there is it meant to look like that or is it in bad need of a clean? also see the pic of the muzzle end, dose that look like a mark from projectile contacting the side? bit of history on the set up, the rifle was purchased by its self from our local H&F then later on i purchased the suppressor by its self then i had it fitted thru the local H&F who use a preferred gun smith i guess.. so possible faulty work or just overly dirty......

Wow, looks like overly dirty to me that ring of carbon or corrosion or both is damn impressive.

Try tapping it on a solid surface and knocking it lose? Will take a few wash to get rid of that mess. Maybe soak over in a snaplock bag (or container depending on corrosiveness) full of crc / industrial cleaner or something
Providing there are no silicone,plastic or rubber compounds soak in a jar of acetone for a few days.Make sure it has a lid on the jar, then attack what residues are left with appropriate tools.
Yeah - I see a clipping mark too; what caused it is a differnt question.
