It may help but more policy shift than that is needed.
Easier regulation allowing harvest of wild meat for sale.
Regulation changing hunter habits to force more female harvest.
But it's not country wide. There are big areas with no problem, and I hate to say it, the areas with a problem are areas with an interface mixture of Large Sheep and beef farms, Forestry and Doc land without easy access.

leave the rules as is, he forgot to mention or doesnt know that wild deer will routinely travels miles each night to get to certain tucker at certain times of the year.a deer nibbling a bait station or what ever 2 kms away from getting shot within the next few hours/days is a real possibility.unlikely though.deer are nothing the the farmed animals he mentioned that have the exemption
This is the problem with using poisons. It excludes other options.
