Learning how to find potential hunting spots

    Hi all,
When you are scoping out a new hunting area on the topo map, what sort of features etc do you look out in order to locate where the deer might be?
How does that change for different times of the year?
How does it change for the different breeds? (I'm mainly targeting Reds but I'm interested to hear how it might differ between them and, say, sika)
Sunny north faces? Close to a water supply? Shelter from the prevailing winds?
What differences and similarities are there between findings spots on the open tops and in the bush?

Right now I'm in the phase of trying to find some of my own hunting areas that I can learn well (probably in the Kaimais, as its the closest potential area to where I live), so any help I can get will be much appreciated
    Thanks heaps!

Just read the Summer section of 'stalking the seasons round' - there is a ton of info in there! A lot to take it, I think I ought to buy it and keep it for reference.
