Lower South Island trip
Righto folks I've got 4 days leave owing that needs to be used up in November and as such what else is a man to do with his time ? Go hunting of course!
I'm after some compadres to join me to look for well anything for a flight in. I'm quite keen on the alpine species but am eager to learn more about reds and fallow.
I can pick people up from Queenstown airport, Dunedin or even Christchurch at a stretch.
If you don't mind the company of a year old GSP, and of course me I'm happy to split costs for 4 days hunting(if there's a river I'm so bringing the fly rod).
-
If possible I'm looking at a max of $500 each for a helicopter.
-
What is a GSP - a dog would rule out any sortie into a National Park.
I'm keen to have a look at the Kopuwai and Remarkables hunting blocks !
Central Otago and The Remarkables hunting maps
Or head up Tekapo way for a real alpine adventure - and you could try that fly rod in the hydro canals enroute !
-
German short haired pointer :-) not a must but I'd like to take her if possible.
Hmmm that is food for thought definitely!so that'd be Tahr and Chamois in said areas?
My 6Wt wouldn't handle the Canals!

A mate and I are going in from the 13th - 17th November. Like you I've been told to use some leave.
At this stage we were looking at staying away from helicopters (for a change) and just walking, but I might be open to ideas as it would save us a considerable walk for very little flying time.
We'll be looking for chamois on this trip.
