    The Lucky Country

    Soooo....

The missus and I have contracts ending in August this year along with our lease on the place we rent. We've talked about it before but she's started up again about wanting to move to NZ for a year or so, definitely in South Island. I love the place and as long as I can bring my dogs I would love to.

Without asking for detailed spots can people suggest a good midway place that caters for good hunting for me and sightseeing/adventure shit for the missus? I suggested CHCH or Hokitika but she is thinking Wanaka. Peoples thoughts? For my hunting I don't know somewhere to chase deer but not too far from tahr and cham chances.

Also what are job prospects like over there? She's a qualified nurse and I have a degree in Science specialising in Biodiversity and Conservation and have worked in the environment industry since I finished uni (bit over two years) on a range of things from water quality to investment to project management to event management. I'm good with GIS, the microsoft office suite, have experiences with databases, report writing etc. I would probably like to stay in the environmental industry if I could, though I would really consider anything that paid the bills and my hunting trips.

It may all fizz out and probably will so I'm not getting too excited yet but if it does happen, I'd be keen to catch up with a few more people from here for some hunting, drinking and much shit talking.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

    Jack

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

That would be my main pick PSC3, she reckons its too desolate since the earthquakes but I'm still guna push for it.
It'll just be a matter of how hard it will be to move over with dogs, guns and getting jobs but if it works be good to do some hunting together mate.

Guns arent hard to bring here as im sure you no. Dog will cost a bit of money. Ya should be able to find jobs no worries but might be a bit of a pay cut depending on how much your use to getting paid

If your dogs got good lines , you may recoup some money stud fees etc . That's if lines not all ready here ? . No expert , but I do no it's common for breaders to source good stock from aus .

Bloody hell Jack if you do that then Christchurch would be the place to head to. If your missus wins (like mine always does) then write a letter to the CEO of the Qjueenstown Lakes District Council and tell him you want a environmental job but as Pengy says its bloody costly to live in that neck of the woods.

Look for a job that suits and move there. If you dont like that idea Queenstown is awesome it is expensive so get a good job and heaps of animals near by central to southland-deer, fiordland-deer, westland-everything and mckenzie country-Tahr. Dont want to offend chch people but it is a dreary bloody shit hole that your missus will hate guaranteed.

I guess you are after an experience not to make a fortune so Queenstown is the place for you (has alot more opportunities than Wanaka). You will easily make enough money to live and hunt.
Also i know people that commute from wanaka to QT

Don't move to Hokitika. Heaps of retards there. Hunting is shit and they are very racist towards Australians. CHCH would be better. You will slip thru the cracks sort of speak
Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.
