    Lucky Times....for some of us

I had another good weekend in the bush seeing plenty of fallow does and a few red hinds but didnt get any love like HartHunter. Congrats to my little shitbag brother who shot this heavy bloke Friday arvo and took off for a wedding saturday morning leaving me to boil the head, strip the velvet and all that jazz.

Something I was impressed with though was that we recovered a projectile. Using my 300 win mag (which I never got to drop the first deer with! ha) and the 180 gn barnes ttsx I weighed it once recovered and found out it lost this much weight! guessing thats just the weight of the polymer tip? Also loved the perfect 4 cutting petals that peeled back just like they should. I guess its true what they say once you go barnes you never go back

    Anyways happy hunting all,
Hoping I can do as well as little HartHunter soon

Little brothers aye Jack. You gotta love them. Nice set of 10.

Awesome stuff! What range was that shot at? You can't beat barnes for weight retention, how much meat damage was there?

Yeh Rushy pity it didnt have another royal on the left or he woulda scored as a nice 12.

Dunno for sure spud think he said it was around 200 metres - coming out on to the edge of a stubble on dark looking for some green pick.
The damage was insane - it was a quartering shot that entered the shoulder and punched a coke can size hole through it and exited out the neck with just a tiny hole - it's unbelievable how quickly they transfer all their energy into the animal and leave with nothing (there were two shots - the first was too far back quartering and he picked up the projectile poking out of the skin on the opposite side)

Was wondering if it was a quartering shot, not often you will recover a tsx, they normally exit on broadside shots, at least you will be safe in knowing there are no lead fragments to pick out of ya steaks!

Did it it the paunch? A full gut bag really slows any bullets progress .
