Yep was there last week with a mate. Saw 4 other hunters walking in as we left and know of 2 other mates who hunted it the week earlier and saw 2 others so seems like it's being thrashed a bit. I'd suggest fly camping away from the hut but find a good stream coz it's dry as up there. Spooked a couple off to the east of the track that seemed to be where the most sign was

Been there also. Quite nice place and hut. Would suggest hunting far from the hut. Past the swampy bit. Should be less people there. Or try hurunui hut. It's a bit further south.

There is a lot of supplejack. Stick to south facing faces and bring secateurs. You won't regret it.

Ill definatelly take some secateurs. On google earth there looks like a few clearings that could be worth checking..

Do you think its worth while trying to them in?

After you get to the top of the ridge you'll find the track to the hut that branches off to the right (it's sign posted), once you've taken the exit onto the hut track, get water from the first stream you come across, seemed to have the best quality water when we were up there. Stream closest to the hut was.. Rather earthy.
By law, you are required to turn on your headlights if it's raining in Sweden.

How the hell am I supposed to know if it's raining in Sweden?

Not this time of year. They might respond to a fawn call or hind call. But it's no way near cold enough or short enough days for them to be roaring

With the amount of rain we have had in the last 24 hrs expect it to be very wet underfoot

(svpplejack tends to be worse on top of ridges. Yov will develop a knack of avoiding the worst. In my opinion secateurs are vandalism. It is quicker to pick your way through - it than cut it.)

And if the wind is from the west you could hunt the Same area by Camping around the mainNorth- SoUth Track Near the old Ngamuwahine biwy site.

If the bush ridges and Once-were- swamps' are toodry tryfollowing Small damp gullies there will be fresh feed and sign there.

still dry as a bone over on the plains...a little drizzle which has evaporated quick.. so I imagine the ranges got the big dumping?
