Thread: Manuka point station

I read on the FMC federated mountain club Facebook page that Manuka Point are attempting to change access to the Upper Rakaia.FMC were invited by DOC to put in a submission against it. Manuka point have tried to keep this quiet. I'm guessing trying to lock up more public land as part of trying to sell the station.supposedly trying to change the tenure review outcome that was signed and sealed years ago and they no doubt got paid a lot of money as well.This can't be aloud to happen.

Interesting, nothing has been said in the 4wd club scene, I've just put it out there in my club and Combined reps know about it. Looking at the FMC page a comment was made by a leading member of Rakaia NZDA - they own Reishek Hut.

Apparently a potential purchaser of the property has requested the current owner to apply for removal of public easement as part of the condition of sale.
Note I use the word apparently...

Ive been hunting up there for the last 20 yrs, bad enough that the tenure review allowed him to lock up thousands of acres of DOC land which he doesn't allow public access to.Now this,trying to block off more land for a potential sale.Absolute bullshit.weve all got to make noise and send in submissions against it.This needs to be stopped.

It seems the application is for movement of current access to northern point of the true Rakaia. Not totally clear, as not all information is visible. Click the link and then read the second link with the FMC submission, as this gives a scope of intention.

Comprehensively detailed and well worded document by FMC, and gently rips DoC a new one in their shoddy efforts to date. Why am I not surprised.

Doc will retrieve the gold fillings out of your deceased grandmothers grave given half the chance. Doc still support the Makaroro dam in HB. You wonder what they dream up in Wellington each day.

Pretty sure the owner of Manuka Point was on the GAC up until a couple of years ago.
