There is usually a reasonably well used crossing from the Manuka Point carpark across to Manuka Point. Its meanders its way across and usually follows all the good crossing points of the braids. Around 120cumecs, thats about top of the wheels and most of the crossings should be downstream and firm. But if its had high water recently and not much traffic since, then treat it with respect as those crossings may have gone soft or changed. If youre experienced in river crossings then simply check it out and cross if youre comfortable with what it looks like. If you dont like the look of a particular crossing, or the exit, then have a look up or downstream for something a bit more user freindly. There has been a good number of vehicles through there over the past few weeks, but some turned back on Sat after a couple of days of high water previous. Back down now.

Because there is usually a pretty visible crossing, some drivers simply follow and wonder why they get in to trouble. What you need to do is use your own river skills and knowledge and drive to your own ability - that may mean choosing another crossing point. Its not a difficult crossing below 120 cumecs, and its all broken in to braids, just use common sense. And should you get in the shit, be prepared to get yourself out, its a long way to get help.
