Could have been worse. You could have gone down the waterfall....
Are most of the mountain bikes used in NZ fatties?
Learn to laugh at yourself and never be left unamused.
That's the thing, they roll really well and are pretty easy to pedal. Massive amounts of grip for cornering and climbing. Great fun on anything other than real knarly steep stuff. They own things like tree roots and off camber stuff and bermed corners etc.
As I said, until you ride 1 you don't understand...
Obviously its been a while and I need to ride one but rolls well just defies logic?
Refer back to my last line of previous post!
Some of it is probably the fact that they are fully rigid, but they have a big contact patch and big outer diameter so seem to go well. I have a light wheelset coming and front forks, can't wait to try it with the "updates"
Tire technology has no doubt moved on.....need to ride one.
I'm disappointed Sam.
Next you'll be on a 27.5+
There were bike tracks up on long view in the Ruahine ranges last April. Not sure if they were hunting or not. There does not seem any advantage to being on one up there.
They are 26" generally, but there are new 27.5"+ (around 3" wide tires with basically a 29" diameter) coming out that could be seen as the next big thing... Mine has 4.6" wide tires on it currently, can run down to 2-3psi in snow/sand. I run them around 8-10psi on dirt and up to 20psi if just out doing some km's on gravel roads. You can get them single speed if you want, bugger that though, I have 20 gears to choose from!
