Mounting Go Pro on gun
Hey guys and gals,
Keen to know how you all mount ya go pro on your rifles....thinking about capturing some bush hunting footage (and short long range)and want ideas on mounting before i dive in....would prefer on rifle as opposed to head etc.
Pics be great.

I know one way not to do it. I took a young fellow tahr hunting. He zeroed his 270 with me and I was very pleased with his shooting. Anyhoo we were hunting in the passing rain, so heads down a bit - maybe I wasnt quite aware of things as I should have been. Spotted some Tahr, got into shooting position, boom - clean miss. Then a short while later sane thing. Asked young mate if he'd dropped his rifle or something . . . Gimmee a look . . . WTF is that strapped to your muzzle . . . "Just my gopro" Got rid of it and the next Tahr we saw hit the deck.

I mess around with GoPros a bit, but not on rifles. Scope or barrel mounted, upside down for the latter would be obvious choice that wouldn't require any drilling or glueing. Barrel mounted might affect harmonics.
Here's a GoPro branded option. Cheaper options on on AliExpress of course.

Could be good for bush work. Anything longer distance and you wouldn't see much.

Most people wear them on their head, I have a pack mount for my pack strap as I use a DJI Action cam instead of a GoPro they are the same mounting. I get all mine from AliExpress

Put it on your head with a head strap bro. Footage comes out better when the shot goes off that way.

Can you mount it on the cup holder :)

I use one of these on my pack strap

I mounted mine on my scope. Was easy to push the go button, and to see if it was on or not. Worked well until supplejack on a steep slope broke the clamp mount. Of course I shot a stag straight after, which was perfect for some footage - bloody Murphy.
I also have a head strap for it, but I have to take it off to see if it's on or off.

There's a russian hunter who uses a mount that's totally different from anything I've ever seen and it results in excellent footage.
It mounts on an arm from the butt plate out to the side looking forward and slightly back towards the shooter, so all the footage has the shooter on the left just in frame with the muzzle just left of center. Makes for excellent footage.
I've never gotten a good look at how it works, but he seems to use it a lot so must not bother him too much.
Anyone seen something like that?

I often check mine is on via the app on my phone, I can set it to record or stop recording, take photo's etc. The DJI action4 I'm using has voice control too, they are a wide angle lens too.

I haven't seen that particular setup, bit there are plenty of options available to build an arm with ball joints and extensions, and adding a mount at the top/end. These particular ones are ment for.n underwater photo setup where lights are attached so they illuminate whatever is in front of the camera - cumbersome, but absolutely necessary below a few metres if you want decent footage. It would work on a rifle too but for bush stalking, perhaps a chest rig or head mount would be more practical. Serious content producers always have several cameras and do a lot of post processing and editing to give a variety of viewpoints.

I've also bought these carbon fibre extensions before and they are very lightweight and very stiff. I currently run one 10cm extension onto a fork cap GoPro mount with a DJI Action 5 on my mountain bike and it is the most stable setup I've found to date.
