So who's into this ? Made a start, 23 goat tails counted by DOC today. Not a bad effort for a morning hunt, any goat down is a good one.With some great prizes up for grabs this year it should be a good incentive to get out there and help make a hole in goat numbers. Can't win if you're not in. Good luck to those who take part. Hopefully some good tallies are achieved like last year.

I have seen two Billie's in south Canterbury and no nannies,is last five years.... So bit of a moot point.... Couldn't get to the last tahr I shot so counts them out.

It would be intersting to count how many come off public vs private land. Big numbers are uncommon on public even in the Waikato. Any dead goats a good goat though..

I’m in a similar boat- I’d be keen to knock over some goats but to my knowledge numbers are very much on the light side in Canterbury (public land ones anyways) but who knows. Agree good to drop them though
Chopper pilot just flew 2 cullers today during our training. Boy came up from Christchurch today heaps of goats on roadside around Murch.
Now you can see what us Auckland hunters feel like ;-)
Saw 5 goats eating grass by the road going over the Remutakas yesterday. Pity we can't do drive bys, because it's tricky to get those goats without a helicopter.

Well technically...if you had permission to hunt/ shoot on the land beside the road.if you were not shooting across the road but away from it with safe backstop....it MIGHT be a possibility....
to some farmers they aren't though. I did a private hunt and the farmer made 7k a year from rounding up goats. that's going 50:50 with the goat dog boys too! not bad for no vet bills, no feed and no inputsQuote:
