    Nevada 2025

It’s seems like there a few forum guys getting over to hunt North America, which is great to see. The rules and regulations can be tricky but it can be a hell of an adventure.

Just finished up an amazing 4 day hunt in Nevada. I did spend time thinking it’s a long way to come to hunt molesworth haha

I had a mule deer buck and lion tags. Only saw one buck and no lions. In October the bucks are hard to find. And seeing a lion was a massive long shot.

    Here’s some photos.

Seems I’ve doubled up the photos, posting on a phone is a challenge!

Would love to return to Nevada trying for Mule deer. Only hunted Coyotes when I was there. Saw very few and no luck hunting them although there were heaps answering calls but they were far too smart to show themselves.
Drove around part of the Blackrock Desert. Awesome landscape. Just driving around saw Mule Deer, Antelope, Elk, Wild Horses and one sighting of Bighorn Sheep.

Coyote hunting is a lot of fun. I saw a few this year but didn’t bother hunting them. But have called them in Wyoming and managed to shoot one. Have the skin and skull.

I’m hunting every day over in Idaho. Seeing lots of does and younger bucks but the mature guys havnt moved in yet. I’ve got a week left.
Found a decent bear, going off of the sign, in a tight canyon but couldn’t get a sight on him and talking to guys it seems they don’t cover much area at this time of year.

Saw a shooter last night, but hesitated too long had a juniper bush covering his chest and I didn’t want to risk shooting through it. I’m in a shotgun only zone and using a Remington 1100 with iron sights.
Then had a very exciting stalk on a massive buck this morning. Typically I could easily shoot his doe, but he allways kept a tree between us. At one point I even tried laying down to try find a line under the foliage but to no avail. Spent 10 minutes within 30 meters before he slipped away. I left without pressuring him further and will have another crack tomorrow.

Good luck in Idaho! Your bush stalking skills should come in handy.

They came in handy this evening. Not the big guy I saw this morning. But a nice representative head of the area.

Congrats @whanahuia. Lovely buck. Do you have more Muley tags or is your unit a one tag area ?

One tag only. It’s very thick country and I’d been having trouble getting clear shots and the shotgun slug isn’t something I’m particularly used to. So even though we’d seen a monster I had made my mind up to take the first nice buck that offered a reasonable shot. This guy was broadside at 30 paces and unaware, he also had lots of really nice pearling, so it was a fairly quick and easy decision to make.

Very nice buck. Sounds like a great hunt and bet you’re having a great adventure over there.

Looking forward to seeing a bear photo.

No bear for me. Season has ended and we just couldn’t get onto the one we were after. Evidently it’s quite hard going close to hibernation time. Gives me a reason to come back and I got my muley just in time as next year Idaho shifts to ballot for non res hunters rather than first in.

Yes, spring is best for bear then early Sept during the fall season.

I saw that Idaho is moving to a ballot, and you need to buy the $US180 permit before entering. But bear is still over the counter.

I’m glad I have a few points across a few states. Looking at a late season mule deer hunt in CO next year.
