    New to deer hunting seeking advice.......

    Hi guys

    I am a new hunter. I have all my hunting gear now. I have been to some rabbit hunting but yet to begin my deer hunting. I would love the challenge of going by myself for my first hunt in Ruahines. Anyone willing to share a good spot to go in southern Ruahines??? Neckshot should know some places I am planning a walk on this Saturday.... Any advice for a beginner hunter???? Every advice is helpful for me as I am a newborn in hunting

    Welcome Jojiyo. Get out there and give it a go. Keep the wind in you face and go slow. Most importantly, learn from your mistakes when you make them.

    It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
    What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
    Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
    Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
    Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
    Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
    Rule 5: Check your firing zone
    Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
    Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

    Ruahines is my old stomping ground, have not been down that way in 20 years used to be good hunting. Hunted up from nzda lodge, you will need to get up into the open feed belt below the leather wood and you should find the going easy no fern and crap that's where I used to shoot most of my animals

    I'm down south this weekend sorry but will be happy to take you for a bush hobbit in Feb sumtime.pm me. Map and compass will work in southern Ruahines to much canopy for a GPS to work effectively.but hard to get lost if you do head down to a creek and head downstream or east.
