Thanks! I sent you both a pm
Well today I made the effort to drive down and meet this young man. Had really enjoyable mornings walk, just a gentle stroll up hill n down Dale, through some bush n down through gorgey creek.heck we even both managed to pull trigger on close wallaby and miss!!!! I did semi redeem myself and tipped one over. So if anyone is looking for company, give this young fella a hollar and take him out for a hunt. He is fit enough, not too noisy and struck me as a plurry fine fellow indeed.

I had a really great time yesterday and MD is an amazing dude! I was really impressed by his knowledge about the routes, animals and virtualy any plant we came across. Thank you for all the tips and tricks and I will certainly get out there, slow down, and to try and spot a wallaby myself next time. It was my best hunting experience so far and even got to pull the trigger! I checked the sights on the crossbow and they were fine so it was just me haha, I did not sufficiently account for arrow drop. At least I got to destroy one of my broadheads, I was afraid I was going to go home with all broadhead un-shot
I thought this was a good read.

A bit more bang is better.
Thanks! That was a great read. I'm really stoked to get back out there. First and primary thing that I've defintely been doing wrong is to go way too fast. I will definitely be going at a snails pace next time I'm in an area where there's fresh sign.
legend mate....
Yes.
I never had a mentor.
For years, walked my legs off based on info I was given. Shot no deer, few pigs and goats.
Now I'm old and lazy, walk very little, sit and wait or glass a lot.
Doing much, much better. Four last year. Only out a few days this year so, bugger all so far, but saw two at about 15yards two weeks ago. Only possible shot was unethical so missed out.
SLOW DOWN.

Keep trying, walk further in and camp and you'll come across something in the Wainaks/Glencoe. Feral sheep are a good place to start for a new hunter. Get some good binoculars. I find it's easier to see game near the short green grass, which is tastier than tussock. Once you're successful, you have no shortage of other places to explore.
once this wind drops off will be in touch .
@Micky Duck as a thing about Friends with crossbows.....
Hahahaha
Good on you both, MD is fine chap to spend the day on the hill and even if you dont pull the trigger you still come home with a story or two!
This is worth reading I think. Ideal for newbies.

Just add. I no longer use a puff bottle to check wind. Rely on 2 things.
Long piece of red cotton tied to end of barrel.
Use rabbit fur in place of puffer. It's more sensitive.
