    New Rifle

Hey guys hope everyone is keeping well and the freezers are full!

I am after a bit of advice, I am looking to buy a new rifle with the main purpose of shooting distances further than 300m. I currently have a .243 Mossberg 100 ATR which I adore as my bush rifle. So for close range bush hunting I will continue to use this most likely. So what I was wanting to know is what caliber everyone recommends, what brands and what scopes. Hand loads or factory ? etc. The biggest thing as it always is will be the cost so a rough estimate would be appreciated.

Cheers for your advice in advance

Also would depend how much past 300m you are wanting to go.

Pretty much any of the standard deer calibers will get you to 1000y on paper or steel(even the 243)

3k should get you a capable rifle, good scope, bipod, basic reloading gear.

H&F god bless them, always have good Tikka combo's, just talk about upgrading scope, may not need dial up as a LR or ballistic dot scope will work on the right set up, then suppress and you should come in under 3k, Again what distance ya looking at, If it is out to 800-1000 then maybe start saving some more coin as the scope will need to be something more than ballistic dot. Only my opinion though

Give us some more info on dist etc but i would say you would even get gun plus suppress and dial up scope for under 3K??

I wouldn't suppress a long range rifle especially if on a budget, Only my opinion tho.

Yeah mate, for $3k you can take this and spend 2k on a scope and a reloading press, done!

Shut up Toby! Weatherbys are way better than Tikkas (starts sidestepping furiously!) Especially when bedded in laminate stocks with timney triggers!
