I was in the ruahines south of the Pohangina on sat 22nd and had a helicopter fly over me several times which i thought was strange for that area.
And as for the Pohangina, its suffered from access issues in recent years so hasn't had the hunting pressure it used to get .
It used to be one of my favourite spots both for day hunts and longer trips as well, its a large area and even during the roar i don't recall having any problems keeping away from other hunters.
When Kevin Billet (RIP) had the farm where the main access was it was virtually open access all year except for during lambing season, and i don't remember any issues the more recent owners seem to have had with dickheads going where they shouldn't poaching private land , leaving rubbish and even vandalising diggers etc.
I am starting to ramble on a bit reminiscing LOL so I’ll leave it there!!
Not sure what the chopper would’ve been on the Saturday. There was a crew doing the track around Mid-Po hut area but I don’t think they flying out then.
