Too bleak up on top to camp, the hut was on the next ridge over from the one leading down to the North Arm hut....some years ago since I was up on the tops, I went to NA hut last year....a bit of the "last of the summer wine" trip.

So the next ridge east of the DOC track?
If so that's about where the Paimahi landing site is. I've camped up there a few times. I spent quite a bit of time up there (between North Arm and the head of Jap creek) when Chris and Arthur had it.
Is it a DOC hut or someone's private bivy?
Well that's Northarm for another 12 months...two guys and a really competent gal [on her first hunt proper and she handled it really well] Very hot days 30c plus good breezes following, I spotted one big hind? But too quick for this old fella over the stream, fresh tracks on the airstrip each day but early morning and evening hunts didn't account for anything! Another party flew out the am we flew in, and another party flew in as we flew out...nothing was shot at the Blue Duck or Fuschia but seven animals were spotted in total none down!...the hut was left in immaculate condtion by the previous party..and some team has put in a great shower surround so we left a solar shower there to help others enjoy it...plenty of good wood..Another great trip and thanks to Thomas and Heli-Sika...
Thanks Huk...been meaning to talk to you after your very good advice last year's trip...we had one down last year but sadly only lookers this year...stilll a great area for my old knees...did a roll-over booking for next year to start my 7th decade of hunting and my 8th decade of being around this planet!!!
Thanks Lucky but ya gotta do what ya gotta do it just hurts a hell of a lot more...the rum helps with lubrication...lol..lol..
