Getting a bit over this bush bashing stuff with no sucess but, Im heading out for a hunt again this weekend or early next week. Im looking at heading into the Kaimais again. Im thinking of going in off the Old Kaimai Road, legend has it the bush may be slightly better in there?
Ive heard that the kaimais hold plenty of numbers and Im sticking to the ideas if I cant hunt whats on the doorstep why should I drive for hours to the same.
Where have you been hunting in the Kaimais?

Haha, I was up Aongatete in Feb and plan on going in next weekend. When I was up there we came across 2 deer of some flavour (reds?), but didn't get close enough to see them. Was heaps of sign and lots of freshys. Went in at the lodge at the end of Wright Rd, and went on the big loop track. When at the furtherest part, we branched off till we got to the North/South track. Quite thick though.
If you want to head out next weekend let me know. Or if you head up there b4 hand let me know how you go. I have no idea how many people hunt up there, but looks like plenty of animals. Well, in Feb at least. :thumbsup:

I don't know the answer but the fallow will range further as the population grows.
I've only heard of reds in the northern part of the Kaimais. ie: Old Kaimai Rd north. Def fallow Te Puke area, but I don t know for certain. Spook might be the 1 in the know?
