Decided it was time to teach the boy some old school tricks. None of this quartering, deboning, and lightening the load stuff.
Time to get real and feel the pain me thinks

Best way. Start:) like you mean to continue
Cool. At least it's not the size of a small windowless building. Shot a small fallow years ago. Probably not much heavier than middle size dog gutted. Carried it accross my shoulders. Front legs one side, back legs the other.
Blued timber rifle, lovely. What is it?
Wee Vixen .222
That’s the way to do it.
Probably 30 - 35kgs, somewhere around there. Good experience though and not to heavy for those young legs
Next trick is show him the Alex hale carry belt method....in open country it's pretty darn good.
Good tuition, a good Vixen and a yearn to listen and learn...... I'd call that a perfect start :)
Yea I know what you're talkin about Mick. I dont carry many whole animals out these days - knees walkin downhill just dont like it but if he wants to then all good by me. Sad thing is his knees will be fucked by the time he's an old man as well; but they no listen
Perfect
Good job, good to see your grandson enjoying hunting. I've been hunting deer for 22yrs and I can honestly say I have only ever carried two deer in that time like that. I vowed I would never back pack another deer, never have.
when they were $1 a pound and weekly wage was $25 - $30 we carried them one 200 lb stag was damn good money
Great stuff. The Vixen doing its job as well.
